Why these ingredients
Why the dryness comes back after you moisturize
Think of your skin's outer layer as a brick wall. The bricks are skin cells. The mortar is lipids, your skin's own oils, and the mortar is what holds water in.
Most creams are mostly water. That is hydration, a real job. But when the mortar runs low, the water escapes again and skin goes back to feeling tight. More cream adds more water. It does not add more mortar.
Jojoba is mostly wax esters, and squalane is the stable form of squalene: the same kinds of lipids your skin's own oil contains. A few drops add them back, on top of the routine you already have.

Before you choose
Why oil if I already moisturize?
Because moisturizer mostly adds water, and water does not stay unless something holds it in. Your skin holds it with its own lipids, the oils and fats in its outer layer. When those run low, the water you put on escapes and the dry feeling comes back. Jojoba & squalane are lipids of the same kinds your skin makes, so a few drops over your moisturizer help keep that water where it belongs. Keep your moisturizer; the oil goes on top.
Where does it go in my routine?
Last. Cleanse, do everything you normally do, then press a few drops onto your face and neck. If you use Daily Quench too, it goes on first, on clean, dry skin, and the oil follows.
Morning, night or both?
Either, or both. On mornings you wear makeup, use fewer drops, or keep the oil for your evening routine.
Does it have a scent?
No fragrance or parfum is on the ingredient list. It does contain boswellia oil, which is frankincense oil and has a scent of its own, so we do not call it unscented. If you avoid essential oils, know that this one has one.
What if my skin reacts?
Stop using it, wash it off, and email info@solstela.com so we can help with your order. If you already know what your skin reacts to, read the full ingredient list first: besides jojoba and squalane it contains plant extracts and frankincense oil. Keep it away from your eyes.
Will it improve how my makeup sits?
Put it on as your last skincare step, use fewer drops, and give it a few minutes before foundation. Every foundation behaves differently, so if yours slides, move the oil to your evening routine.
How long will one bottle last?
A long while. The bottle holds 30 ml and each use is a few drops. Exactly how long depends on how many drops and how often. There is no subscription: you reorder when you want to.

Will it feel greasy?
It is an oil, so your skin should feel softer afterward, not bare. What decides greasy or not is mostly the amount: the directions call for a few drops for your whole face and neck, not a palmful. Start with fewer than you think; you can always add one more.
Why a blend instead of plain jojoba?
Because they are two different lipids. Jojoba is mostly wax esters and squalane is a stable form of squalene, and your skin's own oil contains both kinds. Jojoba softens the surface and squalane smooths it, and the blend gives you both in one bottle, so you do not buy and mix them yourself.
What does the serum add?
More water. Daily Quench is a water-based serum with glycerin and four forms of hyaluronate, ingredients that attract water and help hold on to it. The serum brings the water in, the oil helps keep it there. Serum first on clean, dry skin, then a few drops of oil.
